Does
Your Award Really Cut It?
Since
the creation of the Victims Compensation Fund there have been
questions surrounding the monetary amount of each award. From death
to injured benefits, all have been questioned, notwithstanding the
amount of time that that whole process takes.

Chipping
Away at the Past:
The
New York Times Metro Section of
April 16th 2003
had the front-page headline, ‘A Survivor Faces a Slow Death, Piece
by Piece’. Wow! There’s a headline to grab one’s attention.
The
article was about the Deutsche Bank Building, or One Bankers Plaza;
a forty storey behemoth that stood proudly in the shadow of the Twin
Towers, located at 130 Liberty Street.

What
Questions Need to Be Asked & Answered
It seems that a diversionary controversy has arisen over whether Condaleezza
Rice should testify before the 9/11 commission. More importantly, George
Tenet (he has testified but he should answer questions on the important
issues that have already appeared in the open press)

Black
Tuesday to Super Tuesday:
November
is getting closer and the razzmatazz of election fever has started.
Senator John Kerry looks like he will be the democratic nominee
following his sweep of the primaries. At the same time the
Republican ‘machine’ changed gears to mount their battle to hold
their spot in the Oval office.

Is
Today A Turning Point in World History?
Today
started unlike the normal I am used to. For a start I could not
sleep last night, tossing and turning, the temperature dropped and I
had heard that another storm was on its way. At
8.30 am
I woke up, it looked cold outside, no one else was awake, and after
all it was Sunday so I dove back under the covers!

Why
the Fund Should Not Close it Doors:
The
beginning of December 2003 marks the last month the Dept. of Justice
will accept applications for the Federal Victims Compensation Fund
will be accepting any applications in relation to the attacks of
9/11.

2
Years Later:
It seems
like yesterday doesn’t it? It’s not though. It’s
another day that all those haunting memories will feel
worse; building up inside cascading over the top.

How
Much More Do We Need to Know:
For some
time the New York
Times has been battling with the Port Authority to release the
transcripts of the tapes relating to 9/11. Personal pleas
for help and eerie struggles for survival, peppered with
confusion and bewilderment.

Who Knew What?:
The second anniversary of the day that shook the lives of many as
well as the world is looming. It’s a day that I guess, no
one wants to see come around each year, but unfortunately it
does. Where memories hurt more than any other time of the
year.

Does Anyone Bother Anymore?:
Why are you
here, on this particular site out of the billions of pages
available? Curiosity, information, resources, or just bored
and surfing? I ask this because I wonder if anyone is really
that bothered about the effects and ramifications of 9/11.
Or has there been such a saturation of information and
attention that it seems to have worn thin?

The New Colors of Life:
There is
hardly a person on the planet that does not know what
‘nine-eleven’ means. It has become synonymous with pain,
suffering and evil. Indeed when people ask me how I became
injured I am now hesitant to say those words. It is always a
reminder of what happened that day. Not that I really need a
reminder; the handful of pills and the daily pain is enough.

Who Wants this Job?:
There has
been much dismay in the press recently focused towards the
Victims Compensation Fund and the Special Master that
Congress has appointed to run it. From law suits to
claimants who feel that their awards are improper or are the
result of questionable calculations, economic and
non-economic losses and so on, the list grows. This includes the cases of injured people.

What is An Award?:
Recently in
the news I have been reading about many people’s views
concerning the awards that have been forthcoming, or not in
some cases, from the Victims Compensation Fund.

What Should We Accept, When
Should We Protest?:
Today was a
warm sunny day in
New
York
and
I found myself taking the subway downtown for a walk through
Battery Park.

TSA Plans to Cut back 6000
Airport Security Jobs:
This
morning I woke up to two things that I was not expecting; cool
gloomy weather and Pat Keirnan on NY1 News breaking a story
that the TSA have decided to cut airport security! Neither of
these made me happy.

What is a Victim?:
Usually
there is a simple answer to the question. But in regards to
September
11, 2001
, there are no easy answers. We are dealing with Federal
bureaucracy, red tape, and people that have a different
thought pattern than the average man or woman on the street.
They can take the simplest question and give you the most
complicated answer.
