9/11 Commission Leaves New York With Battered Reputation

The 9/11 Commission’s panel members traveled to New York this week to question officials on the response directly after the terrorist attacks on 9/11. It quickly turned ugly. On Tuesday commission member John Lehman said the city's response to the World Trade Center attack as "not worthy of the Boy Scouts.” He drew a swift rebuke from former Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen.

On Wednesday Former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani took center stage at the 9/11 Commission hearings, and scolded the commission stating “the blame should clearly be directed at one source and one source alone: the terrorists who killed our loved ones.”

He also recommended that Lehman apologize for his remarks that were perceived by many to be an unfair criticism of both the New York City firefighters and police. Lehman refused claiming he was “misunderstood.”

Emotions ran high as family members in the crowds heckled Mayor Giuliani repeatedly, and once the commission allowed it to continue, at times the entire proceedings seemed out of control. That caused many to question the commission’s ability to deliver a comprehensive report, when they couldn’t even control their own hearings.

The 9/11 commission went into New York with an already battered reputation for some of the member’s constant grandstanding and partisanship. It left New York with a more battered reputation.

Bush, September 10, 2001,
You and Dick were getting nothing done
Then a glorious surprise,
A blessing in disguise,
The fire in the sky
3000 people die.

Bush, when Andrew Card gave you the news,
You reacted like you already knew,
You kept reading in that class,
You sat there on your ass,
Instead of acting fast,
You let it come to pass.

I used to think you're a fool
Now I know that you are cruel
You milked it for all it's worth
Told yourself you'd rule the Earth.

Bush, you swagger but you're not so tough
You're a chicken with its head cut off
I can never understand
The motives of a man
Who worships God on high
No matter who may die.

Bush, remember as you drop the bomb,
You're creating your own Vietnam
Since you dodged the draft back then
You cannot comprehend
The side effects of war
The scars forever more.

The body bags no-one sees
The truth is now your enemy
The media complicity:
CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.

Bush, you're not as dumb as you may seem
One man's nightmare is another's dream
Build your empire in the sand
And hope that it might stand
But time erases all
And empires always fall...

If the leader of all men
The one who can say when
The button should be pushed
God help us if it's BUSH!

I thought it was a disgrace to watch the effete politicians of the 9/11 commission berate the heroes of the day in New York city on 9/11/2001.
The members of the commission aren't equipped to carry the bags of the former mayor and chiefs of police and fire department and various commissioners of NYC interviewed. The few heckling family members of victims clearly have their anger misguided towards any New Yorker. The target of their anger, and of all other Americans, should be past, present and future Islamic terrorists. To paraphrase a hackneyed statement; those who can DO, those who can't become politicians.

^Agreed.

Lyn, please, that's enough. Instead of relying on these false lying sources to spread your propaganda, how about you use your own brain to speak your mind on the issue at hand (or better yet, don't post at all). You post the same propaganda in damn near every post.

the police/firemen of 9/11 are the true heros. they died because bush was a sleep at the wheel.

http://www.cspan.org/ and view the 9/11 commission hearings with out the political pundits. view the 9/11 families's press conference..man there are a lot of unanswered questions..like who okayed that
the 140 saudis could fly out the country..including bin laden family members..when bill clinton couldn't even fly home..no planes flying except..escaping saudis who were not even questioned..

yup..it is easy to understand why moore's film is being blocked..do a surf for "kingdom holdings" a saudi royal family owned company that owns a chunk of disney..and moore's film exposes the bush/saudi connections.

time to wake up and join the other republicans against bush..do a surf on the net using that phrase..loads of republicans are going vote dem or nadar..anybody but bush..and his mafia.

here's a seven minute interview that should wake up some people up.
http://www.radiofreeamerica.tv/video/2003-12-12/911-group.swf

some very interesting questions are raised..why no inquiry into the four 9/11 plane crashes? it's standard procedure for all airline incidents.
loads of questions on 9/11 that aren't being answered by the commission.
