I have had same surgery 4 years ago (titanium/casper c spine graft, anterior fusion). I also had a hard time with pain management. The pain was down left arm, down spine to thoracic region, and down posterior of chest. This pain is likely to be referred pain. I found Amytryptilline tablets 20 mgs at night worked a miracle. I also took paracetamol and voltarol during the day. All the symptoms described, I had. I am now pain free and off all analgesia. I also thought that I had another disc problem below my injury.I did not. I am a nurse and understood the complexities of chronic pain, this helped me but I understand how hard it is to grasp.At the atart of my problem I had extreme problems walking, poor balance, no sensory awareness, pain from the waist up and cold flushes (I think due to anxiety,I still have these.) Now I work full time, garden and do all my ususal activities. It has been a battle but I am still working on getting my fitness levels up to normal. It can be done. Try the amytriptilline treatment. Just like yourself, and many others I was an injured victim of the this horrific tragedy as well. I want to thank you Dennis for your support in sending out a message about the injured victims. We do exist, is just that some of us may not have been strong enough to respond due to the overwhelming circumstances. I am glad to know that I am not alone with this feeling of abandonment. This is the first time in 3 years that I am writing to share any of my thoughts or a thought for that matter regarding 9/11. Im proud of the people who lost there lives on that day just to help us. I'm not so pleased that a soul created by god could do that to his world. I thought that day was he on drugs is he sick or does he not care about our nation. I cried and cried till I realized I hade to go out there and teach young minds the lesson between right and wrong. Your story and mine are similar. I was on the 70th floor of Tower One when the tower was attacked. Hang in there. We have to be strong although I have found that to be somewhat difficult at times. I'm sure you have good days and bad days just like me. I'm glad that there is someone like you to help fight for the injured victims. 9/11 is a day I will never forget. I was amazed how everyone was helping strangers - how the United States actually became 'ONE'. That was such a happy feeling. The sad part of this, is how quickly that unity was forgotten. The Website 911 is an eye opener for those who was injured in the disaster and hope that these people are not left un-noticed. I am Dennis's mother and he is one of many who was injured and living in pain, taking medication daily to get some relieve and a constant reminder of 911 and so are many others. In all fairness, it goes without saying that what was collected in the aftermath of 9/11 through wholehearted donations not only from the American public but from Governments and people all over the world was unparalleled in the support shown. For all those that went down with the Towers - there was or were dependant family members who were left isolated and without direction. There was ample emotional support forthcoming from loved ones, friends and even total strangers however, financial support as a consequence of the loss left many devastated. This is a terrible thing to have to endure. This whole non-compensation of victims is just horrendous the read and/or hear about. After all the monies that was raised post-911, and still victims are not compensated. Just utter disappointment.
